You’ve heard that pregnant women should avoid deli meat and other foods in pregnancy due to the increased risk of listeria and other food poisoning, and while those risks are true and relevant, we have to consider the recommendation using an evidence-based approach.
As more evidence becomes available and we are better educated, recommendations change!
The CDC recommends that pregnant women heat deli meats to 165 degrees Fahrenheit or until steaming to reduce the risk of listeria poisoning.
